Procurement

Each solar project is unique and has its parameters and goals. Shade and obstructions can limit solar panel placement and system output. Local building codes and permitting requirements can constrain solar system design.

Incorrect assumptions can misguide the PV design and interconnection approach. Bring the vast experience of the Sologistics team to your next project to streamline the design process.

Monocrystal, polycrystal, narrow film PV panels

Solar panels consist of numerous photovoltaic (PV) cells. When sunlight touches the surface of a Solar panel, the packets of energy from the sun (photons) are absorbed by these Solar cells. This causes the cells to excite and start vibrating, generating green electricity. This process is known as the Photovoltaic effect.

MPPT and PWM charger controllers

An MPPT controller matches its internal resistance to the solar panel’s Characteristic Resistance, drawing power at the Maximum PowerPoint. A PWM controller pulls the solar panel voltage down to just above battery voltage, away from the panel’s Maximum PowerPoint.

Batteries

When your home doesn’t need all the energy produced by your solar panels, the excess energy is stored in the battery. When the solar panels aren’t generating enough energy to fill the power needs of the building, the battery discharges reserve power to make up the difference. Solar batteries typically contain two materials that react inside the battery to store and discharge electricity: Lead-acid: (an older and cheaper type) and Lithium-ion: (the most popular type of solar battery.)

Portable packages

Portable panels are most commonly used for backup power generation on camping and RV trips. These panels are smaller than typical rooftop or ground-mounted panels – standard residential solar panels usually produce between 250 and 365 watts of power per panel. In comparison, portable panels have closer to 100 watts. Solar chargers are another version of portable solar; they are smaller, easily transportable solar devices used for charging phones and other small electronics. Most solar phone chargers generate between 5 and 20 watts of power.
